Kimchi Desert Bowl
I’ve used this bowl for serving various ferments, including some with wild food. It’s one of my favorite bowl but I think it should go to a place where someone will appreciate it.
The bowl was created using a mix of local desert clay/dirt and clay mined in Southern California. The desert clay was collected near St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo and contains a lot of small quartz rocks and probably small basalt rocks (Basalt is a dense, fine-grained volcanic rock, often black). Waterproof and tested for leaks.
Glaze made from Pine and Oak ashes
Wheel – Stone tools
Fired at cone 6 (2200 °F – 1204 °C) using my electric kiln.
